James Carter

James is a junior at Rice University majoring in Psychology and English. He has been in engaged in numerous research projects in Psychology, American Studies, and the Social Sciences, broadly. He is a research assistant in an Industrial/Organizational Psychology lab at Rice where he has been involved for three years. He is currently working on an independent project that investigates how various Black hairstyles affect hiring decisions and has completed a research project that investigates the interaction of socioeconomic status and academic achievement in college students. His research interests include diversity and discrimination in the workplace and in schools, as well as leadership development.  His goals include pursuing a PhD in Social Psychology or Organizational Behavior in hopes of entering the academe as a professor and researcher.
